On The Podium!

The Ravellenics was a success!
Not only did I finish this Sockhead Hat

Which was my Hat Halfpipe Event

But...I also finished my first ever patterned socks!

I used String Theory Colorworks Self Striping yarn.
I was so surprised I finished them!
I seriously reconsidered my participation in Sock Hockey
with my first patterned sock, but...
they flew off the needles!

So...with 6 days remaining in the Ravellenics,
I decided to set a stretch goal for myself!
Could I pound out a pair of plain vanilla socks
 before the Games closing ceremony?

I pulled out some DK Regia sock yarn
from DEEP DEEP DEEP stash...
and cast on!

And this morning....

I did it!!!
In the span of 16 days
I knit a Sockhead hat and two pair of socks!
I still can't quite believe the level of productivity!
I LOVE the Ravellenics!
I think I've got it in me to return again in four years!

There's been lots of knitting going on!
I did, indeed, finish up my Obstacles wrap the other day.

Obstacles Wrap - Anne Hanson/Knitspot - Sanguine Gryphon Skinny Bugga Florida Blue Centipede
 And there it sits....
along with the pieces of my Hayward sweater!
Waiting for blocking.....and the sweater still  needs seamed too!
In my defense, I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to find
one of the large gridded blocking boards.
Do you think I can find one?  OMG it's ridiculous!
I thought I had found one online finally,
only to get my payment refunded saying they are backordered.
the pile to be blocked grows.

In the meantime,
I did decide to participate in the Ravellenics!

And being a huge knitting podcast JUNKIE with a capital J...

 I joined Team Sasquatch!

I'm participating in Sock Hockey
and the Hat Halfpipe!

That's String Theory Colorworks Entanglement yarn in the Temporal Rift colorway
on the left....and on the right...squish Bugga! from The Verdant Gryphon
in the Western Corsair colorway.

If you aren't familiar with the Ravellenics,
the intent is that you challenge your knitting self with a project
or projects during the span of the Olympic Games.
There are "events" and you "compete"...
though actually you're competing against yourself!

So I decided to challenge myself by knitting a complete pair of socks...
my first PATTERNED socks, mind you...
a Sockhead hat
during the Winter Games.

And I must say things are going well!
I cast on promptly at 10:00am, Friday February 7.
Which is when the opening ceremonies began over in Russia.
And I already have one done and off the needles!!!

The Sockhead Hat came off the needles last night!

Amazing Focus!
Amazing STAMINA!

On to that second sock....
stay tuned!

Sticks and String Update

There's been some Sticks & String action happening
here in Texas!
Seems I absolutely canNOT have idle hands.

I'm on track to get the
Obstacles wrap
off the needles this weekend!

Obstacles Wrap by Knitspot - Skinny Bugga Yarn by Sanguine Gryphon in Florida Blue Centipede colorway
I snapped that pic over the weekend, and have since
tapped into the second skein!
The end is near!

And...speaking of endings!

Plain Vanilla Socks - Regia - Kaffe Fassett #4355
I'm doing a happy dance this evening!!

I knit these babies in 15 days!
She who carries socks in her purse for years
before they're finished?
 It's true!
And I'm certain it was the yarn!
Easy to knit knit knit to get to that next color stripe!

I may ride this wave of high
right into the 2014 Winter Games of

I've been trying to decide if I want to participate.
The challenge is enticing!
I'd like to challenge myself to knit ANOTHER pair of socks...
or maybe TWO pair!
or maybe a pair of socks and another sockhead hat!

I have to decide before 10:00AM Friday, which is when the
Opening Ceremonies begin!

This gear arrived Monday....
it will help me in my quest!

I love Sticks & String!
