Back Where I Started...Sorta....

Well, of course I decided to frog that meager
start to the Sprossling cardigan.

And I'm proud to say I've cast on for Hayward
and have knit up all the yarn I frogged!

So that puts me back where I started!

Except before I knit up that yarn,
I started this.....

The WearWithAll Stole!  Purchased the kit from The Yarnery
and they caked up that Isager Strik Alpaca 2 and shipped it right off to me!
So I had to finally start it, right?  I mean,
it's going to take some TIME to knit this...so I figured now was as
good a time as any to start it!

And then,
because I feared not having any mindless
knitting at every elbow resting place...

I started a new pair of socks!
Just the plain vanilla variety,
where the yarn does all the work!

So I'm back where I started before the great sweater frogging...

A Change Up?

You may remember that I started what would be my very first knitted sweater
project on January 1....that day of GRAND PLANS and starts!

Well, for multiple reasons the sweater project
was set aside while other projects were tended to, and now I'm second
guessing the pattern for what will be my first sweater!

Don't get me wrong...I ADORE the Sprossling sweater and am
sure it will knit up just lovely.  However, I'm leaning toward a more neutral color
for the cardi.  And also leaning toward the fact that *I* would like
to be leaner before putting it a ton of time on a semi-fitted cardigan!

And so I'm thinking of a change up.....

 Hayward, perhaps?
Wouldn't the cashmere content be much more appreciated
up against the skin?
And would this be a fun pop of color?
It's so my style!

I think I may tink the meager start of the Sprossling,
and cast this on!

What say you?

Saturday So Far....and a Giveaway!

Happy Saturday!
Day One of a Three Day Weekend!

It's been great so far!
I started cutting fabrics this morning
for the Jo Morton Hattie's Baskets quilt.

Once the cutting was done
the blocks came together rather quickly!

Feels good to just pull from stash and
whip it right up!

I've had this pattern in my stash for
a very long time!
A VERY long time.

And now it's ready for quilting!

If you'd like to make your own Hattie's Baskets quilt,
I'll be happy to send the pattern along, accompanied
by scraps and triangles already cut!
Sure to be enough to make the individual blocks!
You'll need to add your own setting fabric etc,
but this is a good start!
Just leave a comment and I'll draw a winner
on Tuesday!

Thanks for stopping by!

Thrifty Thursday!

Happy Thursday!
Time to show my thrift finds for the week!

I ventured out on my lunch hour yesterday to G'Willy's
and dropped a whopping $9.01.

For this...

 Yep...MORE silverplate!

But this isn't just ANY silverplate....

 No sir!  It's FANTASTIC silverplate!

Vintage heavy silverplate!
Gorham candlesticks!
Wallace Baroque tray!
Reed & Barton Tara Hall bread tray!

And yet priced like typical silverplate!

I felt like I hit the silverplate jackpot!

Do you like silverplate?

Hello Saturday!

Always happy to see a Saturday on the calendar!
I've kept busy after work,
in the evenings,
but there's nothing quite like a weekend!

Since last week,
I've knit multiple Marian Cowls...

They're ridiculously quick knits on size 19 needles
and I used chunky squishy Malabrigo Rasta yarn!
So fun!

I finally made some quilt binding...
and now have some binding that needs turned!

 And I started yet another

I'm using more Spud & Chloe Outer and this is in the fabulously Tiffany-ish Bayou colorway!
I LOVE it!  It reminds of so much of the beautifully colored ribbons
that Kathy uses for her French Sentiments jewelry packaging.  If you've ordered from Kathy,
you know beautiful aqua blue bows are tied around the boxes.
I've amassed quite the little pile of blue ribbon and can't get enough of the color!!
When I saw this yarn, I knew it had to wrap around my neck!

Speaking of Kathy, she and Anne are barreling their way across the US,
eastward bound!  We had hoped to get together today as they came thru
South Dakota, but Mother Nature is warning them to keep on their merry way!
We've got a blizzard coming.  Booo!
Another time!

I've also been doing a bit of stitching!

This is adapted from the Malabar Farm pattern from Stacy Nash.
I've recently added a LOT of Stacy's patterns to the stash!

I seem to stay away from the sampler needle for too long, what with the
knitting and quilting....wonderful distractions!
But this weekend, I do believe I will be stitching
and watching the snow fly!

Keep warm and enjoy your today!!

Thrifty Thursday!

I can't believe it's Thursday already!
Wooohoo!  Time to show my thrifty finds this week!
Last night after work, I chanted to myself as I drove to G'Willy's
"Pottery honey pot!  Pottery honey pot!  Pottery honey pot!"

And guess what....
I didn't find any pottery honey pots!

But I DID find two little things to bring home!

I just loved this unique covered pottery dish!
The handle!  How fun!  I love love love signed art pottery!
Especially when I find it in the dead of winter for pennies on the dollars
versus what I would have paid at the arts fairs that take place
in the summer!

And then I spied this....

I only wish I knew more about it!  It's stamped on the bottom 'Made in Japan'.
And it's HEAVY.  Very heavy.
Silverplated steel?
what?  I do not know.
But the grapes pattern is GORGEOUS and I just love this piece!!

So just a few bucks (less than $7)
and two fun pieces to add to the mix!

Any treasure found this week?
Do tell!

Thanks for stopping by!

That Midnight Oil Thing

Good morning and Happy Friday!!
My guys are on their way out to the Black Hills for a snowmobile expedition.
And I've got the day off!  A three day weekend!
A three day creative retreat!
The house to myself!

To celebrate, I stayed up very late last night.
Burning that midnight oil in order to get my New Year's quilt start finished!

So glad to have this top DONE!!

Do you see my rogue nine patches?

They were pieced that way on purpose,
but I'm hoping they recede a bit once this is quilted!

They really seem to POP OUT in photos!
I like that it mixes things up a bit!
When someone finds this quilt years and years from now,
it will give them something to wonder about!  ha!

So the Americana Irish Cabins New Year's quilt start is complete!
The scraps and pieces of strip sets went in to the giveaway bag!
There's still time to enter for scraps and the book!  Just go here and leave a comment!
I'll post a winner this evening!

Ah...three days!  A house to myself!
Happy Friday!
See you later today!
