A Little Of This And Some Of That...And That...And That

That's pretty much my weekend in pics! Well...other than the fabulously fun Saturday breakfast meet-up with a few girlfriends. And the football watching. And the nap on Saturday afternoon. All in all a swell weekend!

How about yours?

Positive Reinforcement aka Startitis

Such a sense of accomplishment this weekend!

I got the binding cut and sewn on my Plantation Road quilt....

never mind it still needs to be turned!

And I got every single piece of knitting that needed it blocked!

Now to figure out how to store them all!

So as a treat to myself....positive reinforcement, if you will, I started a new knitting project!

They shouldn't take too long......it's the Purl Bee Pom Pom Peds. Not sure if there will be pom poms yet.

And then I don't know what happened....I'll blame it on the Startitis bug. Before I knew it I was casting on for ANOTHER project....

The Obstacles Shawl! My first Knitspot project. Very excited for this one!

Never mind that I have a pile of these waiting...

I'll never be bored!

Closing Ceremonies

The Olympics have come to an end...so goes the weekend. But it was a successful weekend and I got lots done!

I finished binding a Jo Morton quilt...

ready for autumn decorating!

Finished up my Game Day socks just in time....

Cowboys play tomorrow! Wooohooo!

I have my Color Affection shawl blocking...

it's going to be awesome to wear!

And tonight I thoroughly enjoyed the Closing Ceremonies and worked on Mary Prentice 1831.

I would really like to see this one done by the close of NEXT weekend! I think it's possible!

Distinguishing the torch on the Olympics...and the weekend. Until next time...

It's A Block Party!

As in knitster blocking!

The recently finished Citron Shawl

I used Dream In Color Baby in the Wisterious colorway. Figured a touch of pink in the accessory wardrobe couldn't hurt. There are days I need that pinkish glow! ;o)

The Multnomah shawl...

Knit in Bugga! in the Lubber Grasshopper colorway, this yarn was divine to work with! And the color didn't bleed in the pre-block soak!

In my mind, these are really shawlettes...as they're more a neck accessory...scarf-like. They will come in handy this fall!

And now I'm waiting on this to dry!

70+ colorful inches of the Haiti Scarf!

Makes me smile just looking at it all stretched out! I used Diakeito Diamusee, which is a fabulous Japanese yarn. I have to admit I would stop and flash the peace sign as I stretched this one out! Makes me say "Groovy!" alot! ;o)

Hoping to get a few more things blocked before the weekend is over! Wooohooo!

Happy Saturday!

Atop The Mountain

That's where the Citron shawlette currently sits....Atop the mountain waiting to be blocked!

In other news, the Bohemian Rhapsody kit has been ordered and has boarded a plane to the US! Thats the crocheted one. I already have the other Modern Quilt Wrap kit, so I will be doing both wraps! Thanks for enabling me!

Advancing Confidently In To 47

My most favorite quote ever is from Henry David Thoreau.

“I learned this, at least, by my experiment; that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. . . . In proportion as he simplifies his life, the laws of the universe will appear less complex, and solitude will not be solitude, nor poverty poverty, nor weakness weakness."

You wouldn't know it from the frozen state I find myself in from time to time, but I read that quote often and it truly speaks to me.

I spend time trying to make myself more brave....to make changes and do the things I really truly want to do.

As I look back, I've been Little Miss Responsible for many, many, many years...always doing what good girls should do. Always working. Always taking care of the kids and those duties that come along with raising a family.

Now that my baby is no longer a baby, and soon to leave the nest, it will just be the hubs and I...and our furry family. I think this calls for a paradigm shift.

One of my greatest fears is having much regret. I fear being stuck....in an 8 to 5 existence that does nothing for my soul and spirit. I fear not truly living the life I want to live. That creative free-spirit in me is clawing to get out.

Oh I know...she comes out from time to time...more and more as time passes. But I'm tired of her disappearing for days on end...surfacing mainly on the weekends.

Today I turn 47 years old. And I fully intend to advance confidently in to this 47th year of my life. I can't wait to see what happens!

Carpe Diem!

I've got the entire day off today so am SEIZING IT!! Woooohoooo!!

So far this morning, I've knit on the Citron shawl...

I'm in the 4th section! Hoping to get it done this weekend!

I also made some blazing HAWT salsa!

Friendly coworker and buddy, Amy, shared her garden bounty so I put it to good use this morning!

I've also been loading some more vintage goodies into my Etsy shop!

The plan is to load more and more thru the weekend, so check back if you're so inclined!

I'm off to drop some packages at the post office and pick up some tortilla chips and some Coronas!

Adios and Happy Friday morning!!

*Peace!
