Thrifty Thursday!

Well would you look at that! I'm actually doing a Thrifty Thursday post!!! Yippeeee!! I haven't been in the mood to treasure hunt lately, which would explain the hiatus. But this past weekend, I did feel like venturing out and found three lovely items!

I absolutely LOVE this piece of pottery! It is so smooth and organic in your hand, I can't quite explain it! And I also can't make out the artist signature on the bottom. Drats! But I can make out the artist signature on the little partridge painting! Paula Hope, it says. Loved the size, the colors, the subject matter. It will be reframed! And then a lovely wood box. Just loved the way it was put together and well, you know...it goes with the other boxes I collect!

Not a bad haul for less than $7! It got me excited about thrifting and treasure hunting again!

Have you found any wonderful things this week?

I Do Love A LONG Weekend!

Yes...I DO love a long weekend! I got lots done in between grilling out, multiple games of cornhole aka bean bag toss, and the usual weekend activities!

I finished this...

Maria P Oliver! Finally a sampler finish!

It's been a long time coming, but done now!

I also worked on this project!

I've been ModgePodge-ing sheet music to the inside of some globes...making some funky decorative globe bowls...hopefully coming soon to my Etsy shop! I love how they're turning out!

I started a new knitting project, for Camp Loopy 2012!

I haven't gotten very far,
but it's because my needles have been busy finishing this...

The drop stitch scarf! It's got a great drape...I used Berroco Bonsai...two skeins that I had in the yarn stash!

And this is currently what my cutting table looks like....

solids. Amish-ish.

If only the weekend didn't have to end! I hope you've enjoyed a great Memorial Day weekend!

I Hear A Whisper

As I sit here and knit on the drop stitch scarf, I keep hearing a faint whisper over my right shoulder...

ah...yes...I haven't forgotten you, samplers-in-waiting!

Just a little sidetracked with the sticks and string, but a long weekend is coming and I promise to pay you some attention!

Some Things Were Finished!

Happy Saturday! I finished a couple things today!!

I finished binding off the Mara shawl this morning! Whew! Glad it's done! I have to weave in the ends and give it a good soak, but otherwise it's done!

I also got the borders sewn on to my red and white crown of thorns quilt! Time to shop for some stencils now! I want to hand quilt this one.

Are you finishing anything up this weekend?

Crying TIME OUT!

I'm sure you know how hectic life can get. And sometimes you just feel like you're at your breaking point. That's the track my train is on! Working 40+ hours a week is stressful enough, but then when you don't REALLY get your two day weekends to pursue creative endeavors, well....I get kinda cranky! Do you know where I'm coming from? My job is anything but creative, and lately I've been coming home and just plopping myself down in my chair, bending down to pick up my knitting, and vegging out while watching hockey. That's about all I can muster!

Well..I'm crying TIME OUT! Yep...enough! I scheduled myself off tomorrow AND Monday...so I've got four wonderful days ahead of me to do my THANG! Tomorrow will be filled with appointments and errands that never seem to all get done on a weekend. And I'm okay with that. Because I will still have THREE DAYS to follow my bliss! Aaaaah! I can't wait!

I did accomplish something while watching hockey this past week.

The Lacy Baktus scarf is done! It's on top of the "to be blocked" pile. I hope to get some blocking done over the course of the next four days!

Also plan to use these...

to make something I hope turns out cool! And if it works out as planned, I'll let you know and they'll be in my Etsy shop! Heck...I'll let you know even if they DON'T turn out as planned! ;o)

And lest you think I have forgotten my sampler stitching, behold!

DMC is in the house so I can finish up Maria P Oliver! And some new linen arrived today as well! But...true to my word in January, I won't start anything new until I've finished a January start. So am hoping to get some needle time in too!

Maria is in here....

geez....somewhere! I need to stitch more!

And of course there will be time spent down in the quilt den! So exciting!

Tonight, however, I am assuming my position in the chair, watching hockey, and knitting...

on this! It's my MadMay project from the Madelinetosh Lovers board on Ravelry. This yarn is DELICIOUS! This is slow-going because I keep pausing and gazing at the knitting as it comes off the needles...and I am in love! This will eventually be the Mara shawl , and the gorgeous yarn...Madelinetosh MCN 80/10/10 in the Earl Grey colorway. I am in love!

Hope your day has been grand and I look forward to sharing my four day time out with you via blog posts!
