Not Quite Like Martha

I awoke with the best of intentions! I was going to take a stab at being like Martha. In bed around 1:00 AM Saturday night/Sunday morning, I was up before 6:30...ready to welcome the day and be so uber productive! I read one time that Martha Stewart says she operates on 5 hours of sleep. Period. That's all she needs. So I thought heck...I'll be like MARTHA today! I can do this...5 hours....I got this!

Ha! I did get a little stitching done....but otherwise...there was much of this...

Dinner was prepared in the crockpot.....and there was much of this....

Laundry was caught up on.....and...there was much of this....

I did get down to the sewing room to pull for the next project. But I can't decide what to work on next! AAAACK! I know without a doubt that I need not purchase one more itty bitty charm square of fabric, let alone yardage....though we all know I will continue to do so anyway. But seriously....it's like the quilt project world was my oyster and so it makes it difficult to pare down. But I've pulled for 2 projects. Just have to decide which one is first.

I pulled a wide array of repros for one.......

Nice and scrappy! Like I love 'em!!

And I also pulled lovely Asian prints for another....

Neither project is quick. Both are somewhat time consuming, which I am looking forward to, I do believe! Now the question is which one......

Which would you choose?

I think I need more practice at this 'being like Martha' business and this 5 hour sleep schedule! Today was a rude awakening! But hey...I bet Martha takes naps from time to time to! Don't you think?

Yeah...probably not!

*Peace!

Yep, Martha gets up at 5 a.m., takes an upper, sews a set of sheets, embroiders them, makes up a fresh bed, sews a quick quilt, stuffs a pillow or two, then goes back to bed at 10 a.m. I manage on 6 hrs, but just barely and sometimes grouchily, and long-term, it's supposed to be not good for you. And is there anything better than a nap? Well, maybe stitching. I vote for the first scrappy quilt. I like the colors.

Repro!! Repro!!! LOl Not that I don't like Asian prints, but I vote for the repro! I wish that I could be like Martha. I probably only sleep five hours at best, but then at some point I down out during the day. Wish I could sleep six and be like Martha all day long (but I swear she must take uppers).

Whatever you chose to work on Kim is going to be wonderful. Can't wait to see what you decide!!!

(P.S. - I'm cutting circles today!!! ;0)

I'm intrigued by the Asian prints....go for that one next! Okay, I could never get by on 5 hours of sleep. One thing about me....not enough sleep or not enough food and I am one UNHAPPY girl!
I generally operate on 7 hours of sleep, but on the weekend when I don't have an alarm I operate on 8....8 is my happy number :)

lol! Yeah, there's no way I could survive on 5 hours sleep. I need my sleep! Cute pics of the sleeping pets. :D I like the Civil War prints, but that's just my preference. i'd love to see whichever quilt you decide to work on next!

I'm confused at the concept of voluntarily going for 5 hours of sleep. Hmmm... confusion Will Rogers, confusion... I think Martha manages because she has somebody to do everything for her. She can craft all day long with that kind of life.

I tried to do an Asian quilt and I do love the fabrics, but I'm just a repro girl myself. I vote repro.

I'd have to say I'd go for the repo fabrics - but that's just me!

We could all be like Martha if we had the staff that she does!

I like napping - something on the news last night about a mid-day nap making you smarter......napping is good.

Your babies look so sweet while they're napping. I'm going to be contrary this morning. Ya know I love repro but I want to see what you have planned for the Asian fabrics.

I bet I know which quilt you will start on next, KK. LoL! Beautiful fabrics. Five hours of sleep..hmm..that's for doctors, not quilters.

Very cute post. I personally need twice as much sleep as Martha. Your sleeping friends look so comfy. And your scraps look divine!

Yeah, but that's Martha! All the family members looked like they enjoyed the day of naps - what's better? I vote for the scrappy repro.

First off, I love the photos of the furbabies - "mom, please stop pointing the camera at me, I'm snoozing!"

Can't fathom the concept of 5 hr sleep but I hear Oprah does that too. I laughed at Glenna's comments. And yes, if we all had "help" we could get a lot more done in the day and maybe need less sleep. However, sadly I think my body is made for double that amount!

Which quilt? They're all lovely so a non-vote here!

I heard Martha cat-naps many times throughout the day. I'd be cuddling up with your furry buddies and to heck with Martha. I love your pile of repros!

Like Taryn, I've also heard in an interview that Martha catnaps when she's being driven from place to place, and that's what works for her. :)

I would normally go for the CW prints, but man, I'm really curious about those Asian ones!

I've always been like that.

I operate on 4-5 hours of sleep a night for about 5 or 6 days straight. Then, I crash hard. I try to catch up by sleeping 12 or more hours.

No, I don't really do anything productive with my lack of down time. I just goof off a bunch :-)

The sleep experts I have heard say you can never "catch up" on missed sleep and that you should get 8 hrs - now with that being said - I'm not about to buck "Martha says" - I happen to be a martha fan and I think she looks GREAT for her age and what a life she must have. I love the repro fabric! Mel
