I Come Bearing Gifts.....

Bad blogger! Bad, Bad, Blogger, am I. So sorry!!! This has just been a weird week and I didn't feel like I had much to really blog about! So I apologize if you've been checking in.

Earlier in the week it was actually hot. And I still refused to turn on the AC...so there was no stitching to be done....the thread stuck to my fingers! So there wasn't much progress...but I did get quite a bit in this weekend on the Blackbird Designs Loose Feather Mystery-that's-not.....I think I can get it done this week if I really put some time in!

I'm on to Part V now! So the end is near! I do really like the vintage look of this one a LOT. Am already dreaming of the molding for this one, and I love how it's horizontal.

I had a three day weekend this weekend, which explains the stitching progress. On Friday, I went with Miss Twyla to a country open house in an old school house out in the middle of nowhere and found some lovely little treasures...then we went to a good old-fashioned estate tag sale...where you have to take a number to gain entry in to the house. We got there in good time though...no need for a number. And I again found some goodies. From there we went to a local G-Willy's and found a few more things that needed to come home. Sorry---no pics...but I'm sure you get sick of seeing pics of knick-knacks and orphaned pottery! :o)

You may remember this from my last post...

and LAST weekend I whipped the quilt top right out....

Hubs said it looked like I was laying out our dish towels and sewing them together. LOL That one turquoise blob looks out of place, but trust me...there are a few pieces in there that have that same turquoise, so it melds together nicely. Just doesn't photograph so hot!

I had big plans...BIG plans....to get that sucker basted and quilted and the jumbo chestnut ric-rac applied all by the end of this weekend. Well...what do they say about the best laid plans? The quilt is still in the state you see up there, except it's not out on the grass! :o) But I do hope to get it all done in the next few days! So if you don't 'hear' from me, I'm toiling away in the sewing room!!

To make up for what's certain to be a little silence (again)...let's have a giveaway! Wooohoo! A Moda Fabrics giveaway!! I wanna give someone their OWN fat quarter pack of these...

April Cornell plaids! Do you want them? If so, just leave a comment and tell me what YOU would do with them! And...if you post a link to this on YOUR blog...leave me ANOTHER comment telling me you've done that, and you'll get two entries! I'll use Random Number Generator to pull a winner next Sunday! So there's lots of time to tell your friends and get your entry in! Moda Fabrics sunny summery April Cornell fat pack could be yours!!

As always, thanks so much for stopping by and I do appreciate all of your comments! Have a great week!

*Peace!

Wow! Everything looks so great! Can't wait to see your BBD finish. :D Love the quilt -- I like the turquoise block, gives it variety. I'd love to win those fabrics, of course. I love plaids. What would I do with them? Good question. Probably put them in with some other nonplaid fabrics in a quilt. :D Good generic answer, huh? lol! I'll do my best to remember to link to your blog from my blog. I'll let you know when I do it.

stitchery is beautiful
I used to do cross stitch when I was in my twenties before I found quilting! I keep seeing beautiful things I may have to pick it up again.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the plaid quilt and putting that rick rack on it will be so awesome
I would love to make a picnic quilt with the bundle of plaids.
We plan on doing a lot of day trips this summer and will be packing our lunch so it would be great to have these plaids to whip up a picnic quilt to use on our outings.
Thank you! this is a great giveaway in mho.

OH goodness, what an eclectic and gorgeous quilt top! I love it, Kimmie, specially after you add that awesome lovely rick-rack trim!

OH gosh what a lovely bundle, and what would I do with it? Probably just fondle it often and wish that someone would make me a quilt out of it! LOL Oh my, I do so need to learn how to quilt! You are such an enabler, with all of your beauties!

How nice of you to have another giveaway. Please include me! What would I do with they? Use them for a quilt or backing for my cross stitch pinkeeps.

Well now I see what you are up to with all that plaid and ric rack. Cute! I have the perfect sewing weather over here in MN. Cold, brrr 40F and raining. You know, I wonder if that fat quarter bundle would work with the batch that you sent for my Garden Club quilt project. Hmmm...maybe it will. :o)

Well, from one quilter to another, I would absolutely love to win that fabric! You just can't enough fabric can you? LOL I can't wait to see your BBD finish - it's in my stash, but not at the top of the pile! I can't wait to see your quilt with the rick-rack on it. That colorway for that quilt is great!

The quilt top looks great - love the odd turquoise square! I'd love to win the fabrics but I must be honest - I'd sit them in my cupboard and admire them... better to give them to someone else.....

Love the quilt top and can't wait to see your plans for the jumbo ric rac.

What would I do with that gorgeous fat quarter bundle... give it a place of honor in my quilt stash closet and dream of how I would use them in a quilt top.

Do I want them? Heck yeh! Fabric is an addiction for me. I just found your funny blog, and I'm adding you to my blog roll. We are too much alike.

Thanks for the fun giveaway. I never win, but I love entering!

I'm the same as Terri... as much as I'd love to have those plaids and spread them out and fondle them, I don't think i'd get anything done with them so best to give 'em to somebody else--but thanks!!

Love the quilt top AND the BBD! YGG! LOL at your husband's comment about the dishtowels. LOL

quit teasing me with all the cool fabrics :(

Oh I love your quilt top, so fun! And that ricrac is going to be so cute with it. I love the turquoise block, it adds a fun touch. Soooo close on the mystery sampler - you can do it! I'd love to be entered for the drawing. Those fabrics look like they would be great for a Brick Road pattern or even a snowball pattern, using a solid kona snow or a cream for the background/sashing. Love them!!!

Woohooo, they're gorgeous! (And I don't think the turqoise "dish rag" looks out of place at all! LOL) If IIIII had this gorgeous fq pack, I promise I'd make at least a Yellow Brick Road out of them. :)

P.S. GORGEOUS BbD Mystery-That'-Not!!

Although it usually takes me a few weeks to unwrap such a pretty pack of fabric....I'd make a lap quilt to cuddle in. Not sure which pattern... i think one of Heather Mulder Petersen's patterns.....

Melody said...

What a generous offer. I would use the lovely fabrics to do some finishing on some of my stitching projects...pillows, pinkeeps, flatfolds and such.

I just found your blog and have been enjoying reading your past posts. We have very similar taste. I love anything red, white and blue and love stitching reproduction samplers. I had resisted the Flag Day Farm quilt kit until I saw yours and then I had to order it yesterday! Please enter me in your drawing.

Oops. I forgot to say that I would use the plaids in a pineapple quilt. I've made on ein the past and have been thinking about making another completely out of plaids.

I would love to get those April Cornells...I have some of her patterns and love her stuff for quilting. Please put me in your pot! I'm also having a gift grab, if you're interested. Hugs, Deb
