Saturday Happenings & A Giveaway!

Well Happy Saturday!!! Hope everyone's having a fabulous weekend! I know I am! Have been getting lots done!

A little housecleaning was had this morning.....windows thrown open...threw caution to the wind as far as allergies go...needed a breeze! It was fabulous!

There's nothing like a clean kitchen....with a bundt cake on the table! And look...

doesn't it look lovely under glass? I tend to pick up these domed cake lids, sans cakestand, every time I run across one at Goodwill. They come in so handy, fit nicely on a plate....great for covering a cake (DUH!) but also great to cover things outdoors now that picnic season and dining al fresco season is upon us! They're usually really inexpensive. I find them for .50 up to 2.00. Love 'em!

Took Emmitt for his summer 'do'...

how handsome is this guy? This cut will last all summer! Gotta love that!

Since the addition of the new/old sideboard...things have been coming out of the closet!!! YAY!

I picked up that little pottery lamp a year or so ago on a junkin' day with my pal, Kimm. $2.00 and came WITH a shade! It's been hibernating up in the hall closet...waiting patiently for it's debut...and here it is!

Last month there was a huge neighborhood rummage, and the hubs and I ventured out one evening...and found that cute little rusty dog thing...he had to have it and I thought it was pretty cool for a buck! And we all know I am THE foster home for orphaned pottery..there's a little piece there beside the rusted dog.

And oh! So excited to be able to get these great Fair Trade baskets out of the closet!!

Aren't they cool!?!!? I love them! They were an ebay find...

They're kinda quilty!

And this guy...well...

I picked him up at a Goodwill down in Bedford, Texas....he didn't look like this though...and I wasn't sharp enough to take a 'before' pic..but trust me...he was an icky light wood color....resin...but I did a matte black coating, and then a wash of white paint and some distressing....
I like him and he loves his new spot on the sideboard!

I also finished putting together the Turning Twenty quilt....and it's..well..eh...nothing fabulous....

I'm hopeful that I'll send this one out and have some fabulous longarm design put on it that will make it come alive. I still love the tone of the fabrics...just...the quilt design is maybe a LITTLE too simple for the sedate prints. I don't know. But anyhoooo.....

Emmitt's tucked in his favorite spot for the evening....

and I'm going to settle in with the Blackbird Designs sampler and try and pound out some progress so I have something to show you next time!

In the meantime, on the quilting front, I've already decided on the next TWO quilt projects......but first, before I can begin cutting...I've got to clear my cutting table, and that's where the giveaway comes in to play.

If you're interested in the scraps from my last few quilts....meager scraps but still useable....

just leave a comment on how your weekend's going! I'll draw a 'winner' on Monday!

Enjoy the rest of your today!

*Peace!

You were busy enough for the both of us. I honestly have nothing at all to show for my weekend, aside from washing wool and browsing quilt books for the next idea. BTW, I just knew you were going back for that sideboard, lol, surprised you made it past in the first place. He hee.

I have enough scraps so I won't go in the draw. I must say I love the Emmitt photos and how funny, today I made a cake and it's sitting under a domed lid just like yours.
Don't say your quilt is nothing fabulous, all quilts are great! There's humble ones so maybe that's what you should see it as. They can still keep us warm.

You are having quite the productive weekend. I love your sideboard and all your finds. Wish that yard sales would get going around here! I love the colors in your quilt also. I have lots of scraps also...I'll hold back on this one!

The vignette you've created with your sideboard looks fabulous! I enjoyed reading the history of objects placed on it.

I adore simple quilts and I think yours looks pretty much perfect. I'm curious as to why and to whom you "send it out". I'm not a quilter, so the process is a mystery to me.

My weekend is a little too slow so far. I'm selling my house and didn't have any viewings yesterday. Hopefully it's because buyers went away for the long weekend, and not because they don't like my house.

Anywhoo, please enter me in your draw. :) Thanks, Kim!!

My weekend, so far, has been taken up with a Relay for Life event. The boys scout troop hosted a tent and it was an amazing day. I'll try to post some pics on my own blog later today. Have a great day, Kim - love your new sideboard displays and can't wait to see you next quilt. You are one speedy gal!!

Emmitt's so cute! Love your sideboard too! And your quilt -- simple but pretty colors. I'd love to win your scraps, of course. :D My weekend is being taken up with DS's orchestra auditions, DD's ballet alumni dance, etc etc etc. Hopefully a bit of stitching too, as well as some tennis watching thrown in.

My weekend has been great! My youngest child is graduating in a few weeks. (youngest of six). We were treated out to supper by the pastor and deacons of the church along with a few close friends and family members. My college age daughter is coming home for the summer today YAY! and after church today, we'll be sharing cake and coffee with the congregation to celebrate the graduation.
I'd love your scraps as I tend to make more scrappy quilts than coordinated ones...they appeal to me so much more. I have a wooden swan too, but he is in oak stain...love him too!

Well, you got that sideboard decorated quick! I still can't get over that find! I like your quilt - I agree with some quilting to make it zing, but the quilt is still great! You can enter me into your drawing too. Weekend has been filled with more cleaning of the craft room, movie with the kids, and yard work!

Miss Kim,
My weekend is way too short, and I know you will agree. I need more scraps, I will of course love them.

Am I too late? LOL Okay if I am, I love fabric scrappies though! Spent the weekend up at my daughter's hosting her baby shower, lots of work, and lots of fun, but I am exhausted and so happy to be back home and in my nest, you know?

I love your acquisitions, Kimmie, they are great! Love the wall above that sideboard too. Hey share a pic will you of just the wall? Curious as to what everything is!
